Sun, Moon & Stars (moonlight ride)

Bild
A perfect night ride into the moon as well as directly into the sun. This Friday morning starting at Solothurn-West, heading towards Lengnau along river Aare, climbing up Meinisberg and finally returning almost the same way back to Solothurn. Used my famous 101 (revolt 3), built in 2015 by  47° Nord .  One thing was amazing: the brutal noise by the nearby highway number 5. Imagine there wasn’t that highway, imagine that silence …

CSS3, HTML5, direction of reading

Knowing that web browser read from right to left helps when coding a page, in particular when applying CSS pseudo-classes. Syntax is everything. Is the syntax wrong, logic is wrong. Some good sources of knowledge:  W3Schools Mediavent  (German only) W3C

Sunrise Ride (the fog is back)

Bild
An excellent morning ride before sunrise along river Aare from Solothurn towards Lengnau and back via „Jura-Südfuss“ via Chappeli and Lommiswil. Very impressive: the fog smoothly covering the meadows and slowly waving up and down. It seriously smells autumn now. Well-prepared and equipped with fresh ideas for the programming tasks of IMMO.invent. get in touch

Incredible evening with subsequent night-ride downhill the first Jura crest. Perfect weather conditions, notable windchill on top, almost clear sky and an impressive temperature rise while riding down. Tour started in Langendorf (Solothurn), through the forest towards Lommiswil, climbing up the forest road until Althüsli (Mürren). Downhill via Schauenburg, Lommiswil back to Langendorf. get in touch

enerMET v1.3.7beta: geolocation implemented

Bild
2017-11-14 In order to further improve the functionality of the application ener MET (current version 1.3.7beta, release 20171031, http://enerMET.ch ) the j-application geoLoc has been implemented. Depending upon the approval by the user, the current position of the user is detected and its location is used as home location. Currently, the estimation of the present residential energy demand, based upon environmental data is on the way. Hydro Power: a sustainable but sensitive Energy Alternative

Bild
-- a note from _kt75 Hydro power is considered one of the promising sustainable (because renewable) ener g y sources able to fa cilitate and guarantee a safe energy turnaround away from fossil energy carriers. Accordingly, hydro power industry is on the rise a nd a multitude of construction projects are either in the planning stage , in progress or already finished. However, as in any other case in ad dition to the te chnical dimension al so hydr o power has a n e nvironmental , an economic and a geo-p olitical d imen sion which are cl osely interlinked [ 1 ]. Due to the ongoing pronounced and rather uni -directional prom otion of al ternative/renewable en ergy car riers (like hydro power ) critical tra de-offs and ass oci ated conflicts (whatever kind of) can create rat her drastic situations and the actually sustainable nature of renewable energy carr iers gets lost. In particular politically unstable, mainly developing regions are concerned [ 2 ] - [ 5 ] . Here, but also in...

water shortages III: challenges, opportunities and limitations of water supply through aquifers

Bild
-- a note from kt75 In the past a number of articles addressed the issue of water shortages especially in Mid-East [ 1 ]- [ 4 ]. Focus in this region is on the Jordan valley and in particular on the so-called Disi-Aquifer [ 5 ], [ 6 ]. Accordingly, and despite the fact that the Disi-Aquifer constitutes an almost non-renewable water resource (fossil water) the exploitation seems to have started seriously [ 5 ], [ 7 ]. This obviously also due to social pressure (refugees from Syria) [ 8 ], [ 9 ]. All this affects the water supply conditions in the Mid-East region adversely [ 10 ]-[ 12 ] and represents a huge challenge in terms of political and economic decision making [ 13 ], [ 14 ]. Most importantly is certainly the insight that fossil water resources represent non-renewable water sources. They may help facilitate safe water supply for a short time but (due to almost nonexistent replenishment) may not be considered as durable long-term water supply alternative. thawing marine ice, thawing glaciers - effects, impacts, consequences: a brief summary

Bild
-- a note from kt75 A number of recent studies on the towing of arctic sea-ice report new all-time lows of ice coverage [ 1 ]- [ 4 ]. Similar effects have been reported previously for glaciers, e.g. in the Swiss Alps [ 5 ], [ 6 ]. The global warming (climate change) has been identified as one of the primary reasons for the reduction in ice-coverage with obvious consequences, e.g. for regional and local weather conditions. In addition to this economic implications are expected as well [ 7 ]-[ 9 ].  Further readings: [ 1 ], [ 2 ], [ 3 ], [ 4 ], [ 5 ], [ 6 ], [ 7 ], [ 8 ], [ 9 ] kt75 :  http://kt-75.blogspot.ch/
