Ajka alumina plant accident - a forgotten incident?

The accident happened last year (Oct 4 2010) in Hungary and caused that time about 10 deaths and more than 100 injured persons. The plant was only for a very short time shut-down and after a few days re-opened. Since, the production has continued uninterrupted. In an effort to maintain the national competitiveness the Hungarian parliament nationalised the alumina plant. The efforts to clean up the damaged environment have been launched. However, according to experts it will take years and cost millions of Euro to recover the polluted surroundings. People, immediately evacuated after the accident, have returned to their homes and life with the potential danger of human body contamination.
